RUSHING, Wilford "Sput" Carl, 90 of Prattville, passed away Saturday January 6, 2018. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Tuesday January 9th. at Ridout's Prattville Chapel followed by his funeral service at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Glenn Brock officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 PM in the New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma.
Mr. Rushing was born on September 30, 1927 to the late Ocie Rushing and Ethel Thomas Rushing. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Merchant Marine. He retired after working for 44...

RUSHING, Wilford "Sput" Carl, 90 of Prattville, passed away Saturday January 6, 2018. Mr. Rushing was born on September 30, 1927 to the late Ocie Rushing and Ethel Thomas Rushing. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Merchant Marine. He retired after working for 44 years and 7 months with the Norfolk Southern Railroad. During that time, he served for a number of years as chairman of the UTU Local 1053. He was a past member of the Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge in Selma. He was a longtime member of the Camellia Baptist Church where he was active in the Carpenters for Christ builders. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Melba Lentz and Dean Fields and a brother, Robert Earl Rushing.
He is survived by four sons; Ronnie Rushing, Ricky Rushing, Randy Rushing, Rod Rushing; two daughters, Mary Monica (Sergio) Hughey, Carla Marie (Bill) McLean; a sister, Dottie (Dewey) Botts; 7 grandchildren, Michael (Christy) Rushing, Ricky Rushing, Karey (Dub) Hughey, Richard (Pamela) Hughey, Sonja Jones, Pamela Jones, Natalie (Boun) Saengchanh, Dawn McKamey and Donna Cyrus; 9 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and close friends.
Other than the nickname of "Sput", Mr. Rushing was known lovingly to his grandchildren and great grandchildren as "Baldie".
Pallbearers will be Richard Hughey, Dub McDonald, Ricky Rushing, Ken Money, Bobby Money and Johnny Fields. The family would like to extend a special word of thanks to The Harbor at Hickory Hill and to Mr. Rushing's church family at Camellia Baptist Church.
